Sex, masturbation and petting will make you smarter, but not slimmer.

KNOW YOURSELF

Over and over again there are myths that sex helps you lose weight. After all, isn’t the pulse quickening and breathlessness after the act of love? Don’t you feel exhausted, like after a sprint race?

The sex diet myth

For many years, it was believed that intercourse was similar to exercise in its physical activity. The last hopes of sexual fitness fans were destroyed by the American researcher David Ellison, who refuted the hypothesis about the effect of sex on slimness. Together with his team at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he provided evidence that loving pleasure makes you happy but does not reduce weight.

The “sex diet” is a myth that has also been exposed in the New England Journal of Medicine. But on what basis are such judgments advanced? Scientific research has shown that intercourse lasts an average of about six minutes. This burns just 21 calories. Those who believe that banana contains about 70 calories will now know that a sex diet is probably not actually successful.

However, another researcher, Uwe Knop, believes that both foreplay and post-orgasm caress are also related to sex. Thus, those who have sex for 25 minutes about twice a day can burn about 500 calories.

But the nutritionist admits that sex is not the same sex. The result depends on which positions are practiced and with what intensity. Six-minute missionary work is certainly not an indulgence for a chocolate or hamburger on the spot.

However, even if sex doesn’t make you slim, it is essential for your health for a variety of reasons. The “pleasant sensations” of sports usually come only after training, and sex is pleasant from the very beginning to the end.

The hormone oxytocin, which is released during sex, has a pain relieving effect. Conversely, exercise can cause muscle pain. But there are more reasons why your brain will thank you for the sweet moments of intimacy.

The brain says thank you

Do you think Sudoku is the best brain trainer? Do you live with crosswords? Multiplying random numbers on the subway? Okay, but regular sex, masturbation, and petting also help develop brain capacity. This is stated in a study published by the Universities of Oxford and Coventry.

The effects of dopamine on their cognitive abilities (memory, attention, speech, vision) were measured in different subjects who were sexually active in different ways. And this is what happened: the more sexually active a person is, the better his brain works. The participants who had more sex scored two points more on tests. Moreover, not only sex itself, but also masturbation and petting, was taken for sexual activity.

Do you love making love? Then you know – scientists from the University of Maryland have found that during sex, the number of newly created neurons around the hippocampus, the storage of our memories, increases.

This is why regular intercourse boosts brain performance. But anyone who thinks that due to frequent sex he will soon become extremely smart, unfortunately, miscalculated: creating new cells is one thing, keeping them active and alive is another. For this, it is important to give the cells mental training – such as work, sports for the brain (chess, puzzles, tasks, the same Sudoku).
